AmySho grew up amongst the cotton fields and kudzu of the Mississippi Delta, home of Delta Blues. She began her music “career” at the age of 3 performing "piano-concertos-de-la’-soap-opera" for her mother's bridge club. They were a willing, but captive, audience. Soon thereafter, the “official” piano recitals began. Although Amy enjoyed piano, she preferred a good Jerry Lee Lewis Boogie-Woogie than Brahms, Bach, or Beethoven. At 11, she penned and performed her first song for the congregation of The First Baptist Church of Louisville, Mississippi. According to her grandmother the congregation was, at the very least, a bit surprised. “Well, you know hon’ ”said Amy’s grandmother, “it was good… we just weren’t expecting such a BIG voice from such a little girl.” Little did they know....
Next, naturally, was the high school rock band, “The Bohemian Ragamuffins,” where Amy’s influences included Sheila E., Gloria Estefan, Pat Benetar, and Madonna. The rock band was short lived, but Amy’s music ‘bug’ was not. Eventually, Amy earned a Bachelor’s in Music (percussion and keyboards), and Music Business, graduate work in Theatre, toured in her college band around the Southeast circuit, and thus, with her schoolin' , her theatre and beauty queen experiences behind her, relocated to Los Angeles.
And Amy's "big voice"? It can "rattle your rafters" and has been heard from The Ford Amphitheatre to the Staples Center to Kulak’s Woodshed in Los Angeles, The Paris, Harrah's, and New York New York in Las Vegas, and most recently at The Venetian in Macau/Hong Kong, China for 4 months at the world famous Bellini.
Check out her myspace pages and you tube for audios of her originals and video clips of performances!
